What makes people successful?

Hi All

Following on from the previous post  “Are you where you had planned to be?” hopefully prompted you to review the year and evaluate if you have accomplished what you had intended to do, if the answer was ‘no’ what are you going to do different in the remaining quarter of the year to ensure your success?

As the saying goes:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got, and you’ll always feel what you always felt!”

With that in mind I wanted to recommend some further reading which will help you make them changes; I am fascinated by what makes one person successful other another and how important it is to know what you want and where your going!

Awaken the Giant Within– Anthony Robbins

Are you in charge of your life? Or are you being swept away by things that are seemingly out of your control? In AWAKEN THE GIANT WITHIN, Anthony Robbins, the bestselling author of UNLIMITED POWER, shows the reader how to take immediate control of their mental, emotional, physical and financial destiny.

Change Anything– Kerry Patterson

CHANGE ANYTHING reveals the Six Sources of Influence that affect our daily decisions and explains how you can make them work in your favour, helping you to achieve your goals. By learning how they apply to your life, you can put these subtle but strong forces to use in a positive way that brings real results. Based upon the latest psychological and medical research, this book details a variety of real world examples that will empower you to re-examine the way you go about your business and your life and will provide you with the tools to CHANGE ANYTHING.

Get the Life You Want– Richard Bandler

Whatever you want Richard Bandler, the man who taught Paul McKenna and inspired him to greatness, can help you get it. Full of simple, potent NLP exercises that will take you minutes to do but will make your life permanently better, this incredible book is a must for anybody who has ever wished for anything but not found a way to get it.

Richard Bandler – the world-renowned co-creator of NLP who has helped millions around the world change their lives for the better – has written a simple and empowering book to help you get the life you want. He will help you become the master of your mind so that you make your mind up and don’t allow it to make you up.

Drawing on the proven, simple techniques he has developed over the past 35 years – techniques that Paul McKenna uses in his workshops – Bandler shows you how to move beyond the limitations that are holding you back, to discover what you want more of in your life and then to make it happen.

These books are a great place to start, enjoy!!

Are you where you had planned to be?

As the end of August fast approaches, the school holidays are nearly over and parents breathe a secret sigh of relief as the kids will be going back to school. It’s a good opportunity to take an hour and reflect on the year so far, are you where you had planned to be?

I am sure the majority of readers made some kind of goals at the beginning of 2012, hopefully you made them SMART goals! In my experience the reason people often failure to achieve  their goals is that we tend to get distracted, and we lose track of important things that need to be done consistently in order to move forward. Without effectively tracking your goal and knowing your progress, you maybe discouraged when the first obstacle gets in the way and end up giving up on your goal eventually.

Remember to:

  1. review your goals regularly
  2. break things down into manageable steps
  3. make it measurable
  4. track your time working on your goal

This is where Life Coaching or Personal Development coaching really comes into its own, I have witnessed amazing transformations!

If you’re not on track this year and would like to invest in yourself and realise your goals. Coaching can be arranged at a time and place to suit you, we can even work remotely (Telecoaching) wherever you are in the UK I can help!

More information on my website, please leave any tips below on achieving your goals! Lets make the last quarter of 2012 amazing!!!

What can we learn from the Olympic success London 2012?

Hi All

Wow what an amazing 2 weeks of Olympic success: amazing efforts from our Olympic athletes and their personal journeys, the amazing venues and crowd support to the game organisers and volunteers who made it all happen. I have felt very proud to be British, I can’t remember London looking so well!!

I for one have been glued but now its over what can we learn from the success and ensure London 2012 leaves a  legacy;

Lord Empey said:

‘In the last two weeks we have seen the transformation of attitudes within the UK from a negative outlook to a can do approach. ‘The United Kingdom proved it could deliver a complicated world-class event and do so in style despite all the doubters.’

I hope we as business owners capitalise on this new attitude and take it forward into our businesses, banish negative thoughts about the economy and look to what is in our control and work on that.

If you listen to the athletes after their success they have heart warming stories of failure in the past but they used that as motivation to carry on and achieve their dreams, “Learn from failure, and come back, like Andy Murray.  He lost in the final in the British Open at Wimbledon to Roger Federer just a few weeks ago. He faced Federer again for an Olympic gold medal, back at Wimbledon, and won.”

Andy Murrey

We don’t get it right all the time but if you can keep your ‘eye on the prize’ you will achieve your goals, you can’t stop it!!

and your life in your heart”.    Susie x
