What do you really appreciate in your life right now?

One of the main reasons most people do not have what they want in their life right now, is because they are not grateful for what they already have. When we focus on being blessed and grateful for the things we have in our life – it makes us think in the NOW… and we pay attention to the best of our life – this makes us feel good, and great feelings lead to great emotions. Gratitude drives emotions of belief and faith… and being thankful for what we have is Gratitude.

Being able to live in the ‘NOW’ allows us to appreciate what we have, in this age of distraction we are constantly worrying about the future or obsessing about the past that we let the present pass us by. We are always doing ‘something’, not many people practise stillness and clam.

When you become mindful, you realize that you are not your thoughts; you become an observer of your thoughts from moment to moment without judging them. Mindfulness involves being with your thoughts as they are, neither grasping at them nor pushing them away. Gratitude is available the instant you bring all your awareness to this moment and really open up who you are to experience what is here. In order gratitude to be true and real, there must be a total acceptance of where you are right now – even though it might not be exactly where you want to be – by embracing it fully inside you, this allows you to accept life’s blessings and if you really experience this, your heart will open up to more than you could ever want or dream about.

Love yourself

If there’s one motto you should have this month it is JULY – “Just Unconditionally Love Yourself!”

If you’ve read my blog on daily incantations you will know that incantations are one of the most powerful tools to condition new beliefs and if you say something to yourself over and over again it changes a thought into a habit which then leads to an engrained self-belief. On this basis, why would you ever say anything negative about yourself?

Often we are quick to criticise ourselves for having said the wrong thing or having done something without thinking it through. We set high expectations or goals that we fall short of and then beat ourselves up about it. These self-judgemental barriers often prevent us from loving ourselves. Most of us look in the mirror every morning and what do we do? We point out our flaws, we go over past failings in our head and put ourselves down! Do you want this to be your first action every morning? WHY?


It’s time to change that! It’s time to start telling yourself that you did the best you could, that you gave it your best effort and that circumstances often have a major part in how were react. Forgive yourself. Give yourself benefit of doubt. Starting every day with feelings of guilt, shame or remorse is never going to lead to happiness. If you can’t show yourself compassion and forgiveness there will always be barriers in your way – barriers that you have put there yourself. How are you supposed to love yourself with a negative attitude and demoralising self-talk? Start to feel successful and experience wonderful things by snapping out of negative self-talk. If you do find that you can’t let go of the negative emotions talk to someone – a friend, a priest, a confidante.

By taking control of your own thoughts and allowing yourself to show compassion and love you are also showing others the way you want to be loved. In order to make loving yourself easier you have to take action. Fill your day with happy thoughts about yourself and do things that show that you care for yourself! Choose your daily thoughts with consideration with even a simple act like smiling in the mirror and forgiving yourself for whatever went wrong the previous day. Start your morning with positive self-talk and create a wonderful relationship with yourself. You deserve love. Give yourself love and feel what it is like to be loved. Love yourself with no conditions attached.

Set yourself a JULY challenge – make a chart and write in what you will do each day to love yourself unconditionally. It may be that you choose to have a positive heart-warming song as your alarm ringtone, make a romantic breakfast for yourself or spend an extra 5 minutes pampering yourself in the morning. Don’t be afraid to love yourself and show it!

We all have different preferences, personalities and daily routines that can make it difficult to decide on what way is best to lose weight. Having a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be about obsessing over what we are eating and restricting ourselves but you will probably need some encouragement and motivation along the way – work out how where you are going to get this from.

No matter what you decide to do, losing weight should be something you do to improve the quality of your life, whether it’s for the prevention of medical problems or to increase your general well-being. Giving thanks on a deeper level

Saying “thank you” is a marketing dream. There are businesses that are built on the premise that expressions of gratitude are wonderful. There are numerous days in the year when the shops are full of chocolates, gifts, card & flowers telling us to say thank you. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with this. In fact, it’s great that we are encouraged to think about what we are grateful for but I do wonder how much meaning and thought goes into these expressions of thanks and if it has become something that we “have to do” or something that is done as a quick thought whilst doing the shopping.

Most of the time, “thank you” is said as a response to immediate actions or events, for example, the waiter brings over your meal, someone holds open a door, the postman delivers a parcel, someone writes “Happy Birthday” on your Facebook wall (you say thanks with a big thumb!) and so on. These two little words are can have such a big impact! It shows you are appreciative of what someone else has done for you and keeping up this level of saying thanks is brilliant!

However saying “thank you” can be done so quickly and can also be so easily forgotten. What is an expression of gratitude on a deeper, long-term level look like? Is it a thing we have forgotten, don’t have time for, don’t value or is it regarded as unnecessary? Finding ways of expressing our deep gratitude takes time.

There was a time when people sat down at the table together and gave thanks for the meal they were having. There was a time when people who received a gift for their birthday wrote a beautiful thank you card. There was a time when people cooked a meal for the neighbours who mowed the lawn or took in a parcel from the postman for safe-keeping.

Should we express our thanks on a deeper level? Yes.

Spring into action!

It’s nearly the end of March 2014 and the clocks spring forward an hour this weekend. It’s time for longer and brighter days as the season progresses. However, depending on where you are in the world, it may not be Springtime even though it is March. Just now it’s Springtime in UK and Autumn in Australia. “Spring” refers to the season as well as to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal and re-growth.

However “spring” is also a verb. It’s a DOING word – an ACTION word!

It means to rise, leap, move or act suddenly and swiftly as if something has been constrained and has now been released.

If you want to see wonderful things happening in your life you need to take action and the best way to do that is to “spring” into action. Get up and do something about it!

Don’t put off til tomorrow what you can do today because before you know it others around you will have sprung & you’ll still be where you are now.

So, why have you not just shot up out of your chair and started DOING things? Often we hold ourselves back through fear or laziness (because we gave up facing fear!).

• What constraints do you have on your life and who is putting them there?
• How do these problems or constraints impact your overall quality of life?
• Which of your dreams are falling by the wayside?
• What would happen if you took no action?
• What would be the cost to you or those around you?

Addressing these issues should help you take those first little steps to prepare yourself to leap forward with faith! Faith in yourself that you can rise up to meet the challenges; faith you can act swiftly with a belief in what you are doing and where you are going.
Take action – don’t let fear or excuses hold you back.
When you start looking after YOU and start taking action to make your dreams come true, you’ll soon notice that Spring really is a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, re-growth and rejoicing!
So break away from those constraints and spring into action today!
